Top 10 Black Friday gym deals and promotion ideas for 2026 blog banner with two people arm wrestling

Black Friday is the week your prospects are already in a buying mood, so it’s worth showing up with an offer. The smartest offers don’t touch your membership price.

As gym business mentor Chris Cooper of Two-Brain Business puts it, “A little added value beats a lower price.” In practice, that means class packs, Personal Training bundles, gift memberships and prepaid deals that bring in cash now and committed members in January.

TL;DR: This guide gives gym and boutique studio owners 10 Black Friday promotion ideas, grouped by offer type: memberships, Personal Training, class packs, gift memberships, non-dues deals and free passes. It also covers marketing tactics, a week-by-week launch timeline and the mistakes to avoid.

Who this guide is for: gym and boutique studio owners who want Black Friday to bring in revenue and committed members without teaching people to wait for the next sale. Each idea comes with how to set it up, plus advice from fitness business consultants and gym owners.

Non-dues revenue is anything you earn outside monthly membership fees, like Personal Training, class packs, retail and gift cards.

Why should your Black Friday offer go beyond a straight discount?

TL;DR: A dues discount keeps costing you for as long as that member stays, and it tends to bring in people who leave when the deal ends. A bonus, pack or bundle costs you once, and your regular price stays the same.

Chris Cooper has a simple example. A member on $150 a month who gets 20% off and stays about 18 months ends up with $540 off in total. You’d give that $540 to every person who joins on the deal. Cooper also points out that even a small 8.5% paid-in-full discount works out the same as giving away a free month. (Both points come from Cooper, as quoted in Attila Leder’s Clubfit Software article.)

Leder, who writes for the Australian gym software company Clubfit, sums up the alternative: “A discount reprices the membership for as long as the member stays. A bonus costs you once.”

Then there’s the question of who a discount brings in. On his podcast, Cooper warns that price cuts attract bargain hunters who don’t stay long. They also teach your loyal members to hold off on renewing or upgrading until your next sale.

When a discount does make sense: when it gets you something back, like 12 months paid upfront, or a waived joining fee on a membership price you’d never lower. I will cover those next.

Top Black Friday gym membership discounts

TL;DR: The best Black Friday membership discounts reward members for committing and leave your monthly rate alone. Your three strongest options are a paid-in-full annual membership, a waived joining fee with a locked-in rate, and early access for your current members.

Idea 1: Paid-in-full annual membership (or 13 months for 12)

Members pay for the year upfront and get a small saving for doing it. You get cash in November and a member who’s committed until next Black Friday.

Keep the savings small. Attila Leder of Clubfit Software suggests pricing an annual prepay at 10% to 15% off, offered alongside your regular monthly option rather than as a steep cut. He also mentions a CrossFit gym that ran “prepay 10 months, get 12” three Black Fridays in a row.

If you’d rather give away time than money, ChalkIt’s Black Friday guide suggests an extra free month with an annual sign-up: 13 months for the price of 12.

How to set it up:

  • Pick one version, either the percentage off or the bonus month, so the offer stays simple.
  • Make it annual only. Your monthly price stays exactly where it is.
  • Cap the number of spots if January capacity is tight.

Idea 2: Waived joining fee with a locked-in rate

If you charge a joining or admin fee, waiving it for Black Friday week gives people a clear saving without touching your dues. Add a rate lock to make it more appealing: ChalkIt suggests letting new members keep today’s price for 12 or 24 months, even if your regular rates go up.

I’d use this one if you already plan to raise prices in the new year. The rate lock gives people a real reason to join now instead of in January.

Idea 3: Early access for current members

Open your Black Friday sale to current members 24 to 48 hours before everyone else. They get first pick of the annual deals, gift memberships and class packs, and you get sales before the public launch.

Niki Riga, a boutique studio consultant with Limitless Boutique Fitness Consulting, has a firm rule on this, quoted by Offering Tree: “Nobody is getting a better deal than your current highest tiered, highest committed members… Otherwise, they’re going to be angry and we don’t want our longest committed, highest charged clients angry.”

Before you launch, check every public offer against what your top members pay. If a new member would end up paying less, offer the same deal to your current members first, or give them a perk that’s worth more.

Popular Black Friday 2026 promotions for Personal Training packages

TL;DR: The two Personal Training offers that sell best on Black Friday are a bonus-session bundle (buy a set number of sessions, get extra free) and a January small-group program sold in advance. Both bring in cash in November while your price per session stays the same.

Idea 4: Personal Training bundle

Personal Training bundles are one of the easiest Black Friday sales. Your members already know the value of a trainer, and the holidays give them a reason to commit before January. Two versions work well.

Buy X, get X free. A member buys a pack of sessions and gets bonus sessions on top. For example, they buy 5 and get 1 free. Xplor Gym’s Black Friday guide suggests a buy-one-get-one-free PT session as a lower-commitment way to get members trying Personal Training.

Niki Riga, the boutique studio consultant from Idea 3, prefers this kind of quantity-based offer. In her Offering Tree interview, she explains that people respond differently to “2 weeks unlimited for $50” than to “Buy 2, get 1 free.”

PT + membership starter bundle. New members get their membership plus one or two sessions with a trainer to set up their plan.

Steve Theunissen, a former Personal Training studio owner from New Zealand, suggests combining a free trainer session with the membership. It also works well as a gift.

How to set it up:

  • Cap the number of bundles at what your trainers can deliver in January and February.
  • Set a clear expiry date. Riga warns that “A six-month package starting in January expires in June, the worst possible time to try converting someone to a membership.” She suggests four-month or twelve-month packages instead.
  • Ask buyers to book their first session before the end of December, so they don’t sit on the bundle and forget it.

Idea 5: January small-group program presale

Sell spots on Black Friday for a small-group program that starts in the first week of January, like a 6-week strength or weight-loss block. Members get a coach and a group to train with, at a lower price than 1:1 Personal Training. You get paid in November and have your trainers’ January schedule filled before the New Year rush starts.

Xplor Gym’s guide recommends this as a limited-availability sign-up aimed at New Year fitness goals. The limit on spots is what makes it sell.

How to set it up:

  • Pick a fixed start date and a set length, such as 6 or 8 weeks.
  • Limit each group to 6 to 8 spots, and show how many are left.
  • Keep the Black Friday price for the presale only. Anyone who signs up in January pays the full rate.

If this is your first time running a set-length program, here’s how to manage multi-week fitness programs without drowning in admin.

Black Friday promotion ideas for boutique fitness studios

TL;DR: Boutique studios do best on Black Friday with a class pack you only sell that week and a 6-week intro offer that carries new clients into January. Pick a sale format your team can keep up with: a few offers for the whole week, or a new deal every day.

Idea 6: Limited-run class pack

Offer a class pack that you only sell on Black Friday, like a 20-class pack, and cap how many you’ll sell. Your regulars stock up at a better price, and you get cash for classes they’d probably take anyway.

Sell it once a year and people learn to wait for it. Riga puts it this way in her Offering Tree interview: “Over the last 10 years, we have trained our clients to know that if they want a 20 pack, they better do it during Black Friday.”

The same article suggests adding free classes instead of cutting the price, for example “Buy 10 classes, get 5 free” instead of “15 for X price.” Big studio brands use class packs too. Athletech News reported that Soto Method took 25% off its 10-class pack for Black Friday 2025.

How to set it up:

  • Sell it on Black Friday only, and don’t bring it back later in the year.
  • Cap the number of packs and show how many are left.
  • Set an expiry date so the classes get used in the first half of the year.

Idea 7: 6-week intro offer

A 6-week unlimited intro gives new clients enough time to build a habit before you ask them to join. Offering Tree calls it last year’s winning offer. The timing is why it works: someone who buys on Black Friday trains with you from December into mid-January, which is the best time to turn them into a full member.

If you already sell a 4-week intro, the article suggests running whichever length you don’t normally offer, so the Black Friday version feels special.

How to set it up:

  • Start the 6 weeks from the first class booked, not the purchase date, so December buyers carry into January.
  • In week 5, book a quick check-in to offer them a membership.
  • Allow one intro per new client.

How do gift memberships work as a Black Friday offer?

TL;DR: A gift membership or gift card lets your members buy your gym for someone else during the biggest gifting season of the year. Offer gifts at a few price points, reward the person who buys, and plan the recipient’s first visit so the gift turns into a membership.

Idea 8: Gift memberships and gift cards

Black Friday is when people start their holiday shopping, and a lot of them are buying for someone with a New Year fitness goal. A gift from your gym fits that perfectly.

As Lesley Silvestre, Director of Customer Success at Zenoti, told the Zenoti blog: “Gift cards become a natural entry point for kick starting a health journey.” She adds that a gift can cover a first month of dues, a joining fee, Personal Training sessions or a class pack.

What to sell. Offer a gift at each budget so buyers can find one that fits.

Former Personal Training studio owner Steve Theunissen, writing for Gymdesk, suggests a range that includes day passes, 30-day memberships and class packages. Offering Tree suggests pairing an intro offer with a retail item, so the gift feels like something to unwrap.

Black Friday gift options from day passes to PT sessions, with price point and what each can turn into

Reward the buyer. Give members a reason to buy for friends and family. The Zenoti article suggests a “buy a gift card, get a free class” reward for the person buying. Theunissen also recommends training your Front Desk team to mention gift cards at check-in, since most buyers will be people who already train with you.

Plan the first visit. The Zenoti article calls treating gift cards as one-off sales, instead of a way in for new members, the biggest mistake gyms make. So plan what happens when someone redeems a gift:

  • Ask for the recipient’s name and email when the gift is bought, so you can send a welcome message.
  • Book a proper first visit, with a tour, a quick goals chat and help setting up your app.
  • Before the gift runs out, follow up with a membership or Personal Training offer.

A note on expiry dates: In the US, federal rules generally don’t allow gift cards to expire within five years of purchase, and some states have stricter rules. Check the rules where you operate before you print a date on a gift card.

Which non-dues deals can you sell on Black Friday?

TL;DR: Non-dues deals are Black Friday offers on anything other than membership, like retail bundles, recovery packs, January workshops, nutrition add-ons and membership upgrades. They bring in extra revenue from members you already have, and your membership price never changes.

Idea 9: Non-dues bundles

Your current members are the easiest people to sell to on Black Friday. They already trust you, and many of them are shopping for themselves or for gifts that weekend. A non-dues bundle gives them something new to buy without you touching what they pay each month.

Pick one or two bundles that suit your gym, rather than trying to sell everything at once.

Five non-dues Black Friday bundles: retail, recovery, January workshop, nutrition add-on, membership upgrade

How to set it up:

  • Bundle, don’t discount. Price three retail items together for less than they’d cost separately, or add a free recovery session to a pack of five. The bundle feels like a deal, and your price for each item stays the same.
  • Offer add-ons at checkout. Someone buying a class pack or a gift membership is already spending money. Offer the retail bundle or a nutrition add-on right there, and many will say yes.
  • Pick things with low cost to you. Recovery sessions in quiet hours and workshops run by one coach for a full room cost you little to deliver, so most of what you charge is profit.
  • Keep selling through Cyber Monday. Retail and gift bundles sell well online, so leave them up on your website and app through Monday night.

What kind of free trials do gyms offer on Black Friday?

TL;DR: Most gyms skip open free trials on Black Friday and use two targeted free offers instead: guest passes that members give to friends, and a win-back pass for former members. For everyone else, a paid intro offer works better than a free trial.

Idea 10: Guest passes members give to friends

An open free trial on Black Friday brings in a lot of sign-ups and few people who actually show up. People who pay even a small amount are much more likely to come in. So keep your paid intro (Idea 7) as your main offer for new people, and use free passes where they’ll get used.

Guest passes as gifts. Give every member a free 2- to 4-week pass to hand to a friend or family member between Black Friday and New Year. Your members get a gift that costs them nothing, and you get warm referrals from people who already know someone at your gym.

Win-back passes for former members. Send people who cancelled in the past year a free week or two in December as a thank-you. They already know your gym, and a short free spell before January is often all they need to rejoin for the New Year.

How to set it up:

  • Make the passes personal: add the member’s name, or send each member their own link, so you know who referred whom.
  • Set a clear end date, like January 5, so the pass leads into your New Year sign-ups.
  • Follow up in the last week of the pass with a membership or intro offer.
  • Thank the member when their friend joins. A free class or a small retail credit works well.

Creative Black Friday marketing strategies for fitness centers

TL;DR: The best Black Friday gym marketing sends a different message to each group: current members, prospects, former members, and your members’ friends and family. Build interest early with a waitlist and one clear landing page, then keep the offer in front of people until Cyber Monday.

Talk to four audiences, not one

Most gyms send one Black Friday email to their whole list. You’ll sell more if you split it into four groups and lead each one with the offer that suits them.

Four Black Friday audiences, each with the offer to lead with, the best channel and a message angle

Six tactics that work for gyms and studios

1. Open a waitlist two to three weeks early.

Post a teaser that says “Our biggest offer of the year drops Black Friday. Join the list to hear first.” Anyone who signs up is a warm lead before the sale even starts.

2. Put everything on one landing page.

Show all your Black Friday offers on one page, with the price, what’s included, the deadline and a buy button. Every email, post and QR code points there.

3. Make it easy to buy on a phone.

Most people will see your offer on their phone, often in the evening. If buying takes more than a couple of taps, a lot of them will give up.

4. Follow up on unfinished checkouts.

Someone who started buying and stopped is your warmest lead. A short reminder the same day (“Your class pack is still waiting”) wins back a surprising number of them.

5. Use Small Business Saturday.

The day after Black Friday is when shoppers go out of their way to support local businesses. Share your gym’s story, show your coaches, and remind people that buying from you keeps a local business going.

6. Team up with local businesses.

Bundle your gift membership with a café, physio or activewear shop and cross-promote each other’s offers. Both of you reach new customers at no cost. Here are 20 gym partnership ideas to get you started.

Use every channel, with one message. Email, SMS, social posts, app notifications and a poster at your Front Desk should all say the same thing and point to the same page. Seeing the offer in several places is what gets people to act.

When should you launch your Black Friday gym promotion?

TL;DR: Start planning 8 weeks before Black Friday, open a waitlist 3 weeks out, give members 48 hours of early access, and close the sale on Cyber Monday. The work doesn’t stop there: December and January are when buyers turn into regulars.

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday, November 27, and Cyber Monday is November 30. Here’s the week-by-week plan, working back from those dates.

Black Friday 2026 launch timeline for gyms, from planning 8 weeks out to January follow-up

Before the sale: get your offers ready to buy

Set up every offer in your booking and payment system at least a week before launch, and test the full checkout on your phone. Your Front Desk team should be able to explain every offer in one sentence and sell it at the desk too.

After the sale: turn buyers into regulars

Most gyms stop on Cyber Monday. The ones that keep the revenue, plan what happens in December and January as well:

  • Book first sessions in December. Contact every class pack, Personal Training and intro buyer and get their first booking in the calendar before Christmas.
  • Keep selling gifts until December 24. Last-minute gift buyers are real, so remind members that gift memberships and guest passes are still available.
  • Plan January for the new faces. Your Black Friday buyers arrive at the same time as the New Year crowd, so check your class capacity and trainer hours now. If you need a checklist, here’s how to prepare your gym for the New Year.
  • Measure what counts. A big Black Friday weekend feels good, but the real result is how many of those buyers are still coming in March. Check attendance at 30, 60 and 90 days.

A lot of this December and January work depends on members being able to book and buy on their own. A strong member app helps you handle the New Year rush without tying up your Front Desk.

Let members book what they bought, from their phone. With SHC, members can buy class packs and Personal Training sessions and book them in the member app, so your December follow-ups turn into booked sessions. See how booking and attendance work in SHC.

What Black Friday promotion mistakes should you avoid?

The most expensive Black Friday mistakes are cutting monthly dues, giving new people a better deal than loyal members, and forgetting about buyers once the sale ends. Keep your offers few, capped and time-limited, and judge the sale by who’s still training in March.

MistakeWhy it hurtsDo this instead
1. Cutting monthly duesYou lose that money every month the member staysSell packs, bundles and prepaid deals
2. New people get a better dealYour loyal members feel cheatedGive members first access and the same deal or better
3. Too many offersPeople can’t decide, so they don’t buyRun 2 or 3 clear offers
4. No caps or expiry datesJanuary overload and packs that never get usedCap numbers and set a 4-month expiry
5. No follow-up after the saleBuyers forget what they boughtBook every buyer’s first session in December
6. Judging it on weekend salesSign-ups don’t show who staysCheck attendance at 30, 60 and 90 days

The last one is the mistake I see most. A record Black Friday weekend means little if half those buyers never come back after January. Treat the sale as the start of a new relationship with each buyer, and plan how you’ll keep them coming in the months after.

When Black Friday isn’t worth it: if your classes are already full and you have a waitlist, a big public sale can bring in more people than you can serve well. In that case, run member early access and gift memberships only, and skip the public launch.

FAQs

1. Should gyms offer Black Friday discounts at all?

Yes, but not on monthly dues. A dues discount keeps costing you for as long as the member stays. Put your Black Friday offer on things with an end date instead, like class packs, Personal Training bundles, prepaid annual memberships and gift cards. You’ll get the Black Friday sales, and your regular price stays where it is.

2. How much should a Black Friday class pack discount be?

Adding free classes usually works better than taking a percentage off. “Buy 10, get 5 free” looks generous, and your price per class stays the same. If you do use a percentage, keep it around 15% to 25%, cap the number of packs you sell, and set an expiry date so the classes get used.

3. Do Black Friday gym gift cards expire?

It depends on where you operate. In the US, federal rules generally don’t allow gift cards to expire within five years of purchase, and some states go further. A class pack or intro offer sold as a gift can have its own terms, so state them clearly when someone buys. Check local rules before printing any date.

4. When should a gym start promoting Black Friday?

Start planning about 8 weeks before Black Friday, and start promoting 3 weeks out with a teaser and a waitlist. For 2026, that means choosing your offers by early October and opening the waitlist on November 6. Give current members 48 hours of early access before the public launch on November 27.

5. Should Black Friday deals run through Cyber Monday?

Yes, for most gyms. Keeping the sale open from Black Friday to Cyber Monday gives people a full weekend to decide, and it covers Small Business Saturday, when shoppers go looking for local businesses. Close it at midnight on Monday and stick to that deadline. Gift memberships can stay on sale until December 24.

Where should you start this week?

Don’t try to run all 10 ideas. Pick three: one for your current members, one for new people, and one gift. For example, you could run member early access on a 20-class pack, a 6-week intro for newcomers, and gift memberships for everyone else. That’s enough to fill your December and January without stretching your team.

This week:

  • Choose your three offers and check each one against what your most committed members pay.
  • Put the key dates in your calendar: offers set up by October 16, waitlist open on November 6, member early access on November 24, public launch on November 27, and the sale closes at midnight on November 30.
  • Decide who follows up with buyers in December, so every class pack, Personal Training bundle and gift card turns into a booked visit.

Black Friday gives you cash in November. The follow-up you plan now decides how many of those buyers are still training with you in March.
